Travel Day - October 29-30

We left the house a few minutes after 8:00 in the morning.  Our friend Jane Mathews graciously agreed to take us to the airport to catch our flight to which left at 10:20 a.m.  Roughly 25 hours later, we landed in Beijing!  It was a mammoth adventure - we flew from St. Louis to Minneapolis to Tokyo to Beijing!  We were all a little anxious the day before, but that morning all you could feel was peace.  No doubt related to all the prayers from you!  Thank you!  We got up and walked around the plane a bit, slept a little bit, watched some movies, did some homework, read some books and laughed a lot.   We discussed the day and highlights were:

  • Seeing a Starbucks before we even left the Beijing airport,
  • Realizing that we were in a foreign country (some of us for the first time)
  • Being able to sleep horizontally after 25 hours of trying to sleep vertically.

The things we miss the most are:

  1. clean tap water
  2. fresh unpolluted, smoke and odor free air to breathe
  3. milk products
  4. Halloween
